Powell G. Widner, 86, of Goshen, died Tuesday evening, January 29, 2013, at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, where he had been since Monday. He was born in Goshen Sept. 30, 1926 to Powell H. and Ruth A. (Gunther) Widner. He married Barbara L. Rohn July 1, 1950 in Goshen. She survives along with a son, David (Janet) Widner, of Goshen; a daughter, Paula (Scott) Troyer, of Bristol; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Dorothy Brumbaugh, of Goshen. He was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Widner; a brother, Jerry Widner and a sister, Evelyn Orn. A lifelong area resident, Mr. Widner worked in quality control at Goshen Rubber for 48 years before retiring in 1992. A World War II Army veteran, he was a volunteer with the Elkhart Township Fire Department for 22 years. Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m., Friday, February 1, 2013, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home where a 10 a.m., funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, February 2, 2013. Pastor Harold Knight, Brenneman Memorial Missionary Church, will officiate. Burial will follow at a later date in Violett Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be made to Purdue University Dance Marathon for Children's Cancer.
