Pierre J. Bigler, 93, of Goshen, died Thursday evening, June 17, 2010, at Goshen General Hospital. He had been in failing health the past month. He was born May 13, 1917, in Goshen to the late Pierre Starr and Celeste (Johnson) Bigler. He married Beulah N. Sayles in Goshen on April 17, 1938. She died May 22, 2002. Surviving are two daughters, Barbara (Vernon L.) Miller of Middlebury and Sharon (Robert) Bohs of Elkhart; two sons, Allen Dean Bigler of Pasadena, California, and Wayne (Patricia) Bigler of Nappanee; eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; 3 great great-grandchildren; and two brothers, James (Dorothy) Bigler and Phillip Bigler both of Goshen. He was preceded in death by brothers, Frederick & Maxwell Bigler. The former owner of Simonton Lake Hardware, he also worked 22 years as a foreman at Weatherhead (Dana Corporation) in Syracuse. A member of First Brethren Church, Goshen; and the Weatherhead Pioneer Club, he enjoyed fishing. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Monday, June 21, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, where services will be held 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 22, 2010. Pastor John Drexler of First Brethren Church, Goshen, will officiate. Burial will be in Violett Cemetery, Goshen. Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer’s’ Foundation.
