Phyllis L. Whitney

Phyllis Whitney, 88, of Goshen and formerly of Dixon, Illinois, died Sunday, July 13, 2014, at The Maples at Waterford Crossing. She was born November 4, 1925 in Coleta, Illinois, to Ralph and Stella (Bush) Pyse. On February 2, 1946 she married Roy Whitney in Oregon, Illinois. He died in 1984. She is survived by two daughters, Diane (Jim) Dague of Goshen and Becky (Lance) Walter of Amboy, Ill.; a son, Tom (Kathy) Whitney of Bloomington, Ill.; six grandchildren, Erin Griffin, Erica (Brad) Nugent, Liz (Brian) Wogoman, Nathan Whitney, Jessica Walter and Matthew (Amanda) Walter; and 10 great-grandchildren, Cameron, Caleb and Kedzie Griffin, Whitney and Tristan Nugent, Lincoln, Smith, Whitney and Spencer Wogoman and Everett Walter. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother, Raymond Pyse and four sisters, Genevieve Fritz, Louella Wagenecht, Ravina Pyse and Bernadine Canfield. She was a lifetime resident of Dixon and a member of the Dixon St. James Evangelical Congregational Church. She worked in the billing department at KSB Hospital, Dixon. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, July 26, 2014 at St. James Evangelical Congregation Church, 1552 U.S. Highway 52, Dixon. Burial will follow in Lighthouse United Methodist Church Cemetery, Oregon, Ill. Yoder-Culp Funeral Home is assisting with local arrangements.
