Phyllis J. Miller, 76, of Goshen, died Sunday, February 26, 2012, at the Center for Hospice Care in Elkhart. She was born September 6, 1935 in Mentone to the late Ralph and Genevieve (McGriff) Warren. She is survived by Lloyd S. Miller, whom she married on April 18, 1954 in Mentone. Also surviving are a son, Bruce A. (Suzan Kesim) Miller, South Bend; a daughter, Gale R. Miller Everest, Rochester; a granddaughter, Ashley Nicole Everest; and two sisters, Bonnie (John) McCloughan, Greensburg, Ken., and Carolyn (Bill) Church, Angola. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Donnabelle Grossman, Margie Ervin and Martha Parker. A 1953 graduate of Mentone High School, Mrs. Miller was a homemaker and volunteer. She was an active member of Brenneman Memorial Missionary Church where she served as a youth leader and will be remembered for her many creative crafting projects. She also served as pianist for Gospel Echoes, Goshen and Full Gospel Church, New Paris. She volunteered as Room Mother and as Fun Fair Chairman at Chamberlain Elementary School. Phyllis was devoted to providing opportunities for Scouting in the Goshen area. She served as a Cub Scout leader and Membership Chairman, and was awarded the Silver Beaver and the Award of Merit for her achievements. She was also a dedicated Campfire Leader. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 1, and from 9 until the 10 a.m. Friday, March 2, 2012, funeral service at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Pastor Russ Hunsberger, Brenneman Memorial Missionary Church, will officiate. Burial will follow in Violett Cemetery, Goshen.
