Phyllis Kerns

Phyllis Jean Kerns, 70, of Goshen, died Friday afternoon, March 28, 2008, at The Maples at Waterford Crossing.  She had been in failing health since her stroke on December 29, 2007. She was born in Goshen on November 10, 1937, to Nicholas and Nettie (Davis) Blodgett.  She married Robert D. Kerns on December 9, 1954, in Goshen.  He preceded her in death on March 29, 1989. A lifetime resident of the area, Mrs. Kerns worked as a cabinet maker for Dutch Mills.  She attended the Calvary Assembly of God in Elkhart. She is survived by two sons, Ronald (Debra) Kerns of Ozark, Alabama, and Brian (Debra) Kerns of Goshen; four grandchildren; a great-grandchild; two sisters, Bea Mast of Howe, Indiana, and Doris (John) Warren of Lafayette, Indiana; and a brother, Jerry McColley of Indiana. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; a brother, Jack Heeter; and a sister, Sylvia Lay. Friends may call 1 to 5 p.m., Sunday, March 30 at the funeral home. An 11:30 a.m., Monday, March 31, 2008, funeral service will be conducted at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home.  Senior Pastor Jim Williams of the Calvary Assembly of God, Elkhart, will officiate. Burial will be in Oakridge Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be made to the Calvary Assembly of God.
