Phyllis J. Hudson, 94, of Goshen, died Thursday, February 8, 2018 at Miller’s Merry Manor, Wakarusa after a short illness.
She was born April 1, 1923 in North Liberty to Harry and Mary (Freed) Funkhouse.
On December 21, 1941 she married Robert F. Hudson in Elkhart. He died May 23, 2007.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Edmonds of Goshen and Pam Penninger of Union, Michigan; seven grandchildren, Richard (Michelle) Edmonds of Goshen, Su (David) Peeler of Conroe, Texas, Chris (Stephanie) Edmonds and Elizabeth Edmonds, both of Goshen, John Penninger of Union, Michigan, Amy Hunt of White Pigeon, Michigan and Robert Penninger of Elkhart; 14 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren.
Along with her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, William Edward and a granddaughter, Christine Edmonds.
Mrs. Hudson enjoyed her family, especially the last two years with her grandchildren in the Goshen area. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, bowling and was known for her singing voice and the special music she provided for her church, Sahuaro Baptist Church in Tucson, Arizona.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date in Rice Cemetery, Elkhart.
