Phillip A. Miller, 80, of Goshen, passed away Monday, January 9, 2017 at home of natural causes.
He was born December 25, 1936 in Elkhart to George A. and Helen V. (Green) Miller.
On October 5, 1958 he married Janet Cripe in Goshen.
She survives along with a daughter, Pam M. Miller and a son, Michael (Kathy) Miller, both of Goshen; four grandchildren, twins, Chelsea Miller of New Carlisle and Keith Miller of San Diego, California, Christopher Miller of Middlebury and Hailee Miller of Goshen and a great grandson, Gage Richard of New Carlisle.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers-in-law, Jerry and Henry “Hank” Cripe.
A 1955 graduate of Goshen High School, he worked with his father at George A. Miller Garage, Goshen prior to joining the Elkhart County Sherriff’s Department where he served for 22 years, retiring in Jan. 1992. During his tenure with the sheriff’s department he also worked at Noah Schrock Conoco Station, Middlebury. After retirement he owned Miller’s Automotive in Goshen.
He enjoyed riding motorcycles cross country with friends and fishing.
Friends may call Thursday, January 12, 2017 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and again Friday from 12:30 p.m. until the 1:30 p.m. funeral service, all at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Rev. Tim Yoder will officiate. The Elkhart County Sherriff’s Department Honor Guard will be present while the body lies in state.
Burial will follow at Brown Cemetery, Goshen.
