Philip E. Gingerich, 87 of Goshen died Saturday morning, February 28, 2009 at the home of his daughter, Susan Shetler. He was born to Albert J. and Josephine (Miller) Gingerich on March 19, 1921 in Princeton, Illinois. He married E. Faith Cooley on June 8, 1947 in Chicago, Illinois. She died on September 14, 1997. Mr. Gingerich was retired from farming and was an auto dealer. He was a member of Clinton Frame Mennonite Church. He served in the Army during World War II from August of 1942 to February of 1946. He is survived by three daughters, Joan (Tim) Morningstar, Susan (Dean) Shetler, and Amy (Jay) Schrock all of Goshen; three sons, Paul (Joan) Gingerich of Elkhart, Stan (Marlene) Gingerich, and Mark (Georgia) Gingerich of Goshen; 19 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Delbert (Joreen) Gingerich of Goshen; and one sister-in-law, Marian Gingerich of Goshen. He was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Heather Gingerich in 1983, and one brother, William Gingerich. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 3, 2009 at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home and from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Clinton Frame Mennonite Church. An 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 4, 2009 funeral will be conducted at Clinton Frame Mennonite Church. Pastors Terry Diener and Jeff Mumaw of Clinton Frame Mennonite Church will officiate. Burial will follow in Clinton Union Cemetery. The family requests that memorials be given to Gideons International.
