Phebe Beachy, 64, of Goshen was found dead on Sunday, July 6, 2008, in her home. Her death was unexpected. She was born in Goshen on November 15, 1943, to Mervin and Susie S. (martin) Ramer. She married Aden S. Beachy on September 19, 1964 in Elkhart. He preceded her in death on November 9, 1997. A homemaker, Mrs. Beachy enjoyed feeding birds and bird watching and enjoyed traveling in the New England area, the Lewis and Clark Trail through Missouri and on the Gulf Coast Tour to watch birds along the route. She was an avid quilter, played the saxophone in the Sunrise Senior Band of Elkhart; and in the past had cared for foster children in her home. She is survived by a son, Kent (Lilia) Beachy of Norfolk, Virginia; a daughter, Kimberly Beachy of Goshen and presently on assignment at Palmer Station in Antartica; a step-son, Donald Lee Beachy of Goshen; two grandchildren; eight brothers, Samuel (Gertrude) Ramer of Arkansas, James (Margaret) Ramer, paul (Patricia) Ramer, John (Nancy) Ramer, Stephen (Sandra) Ramer, Jason (Tina) Ramer, Luke (Linda) Ramer and Daniel (Lorene) Ramer, all of Texas; and eight sisters, Eva (Cecil) Neckels of Montana, Priscilla (Leslie) Gowan of Arizona, Rachel (Ivan) Ramer of Red Lake, Ontario, Canada, Martha (Richard) Aycock of Wittier, California, Ruth (Rodney) Stromlund of Harrison, Arkansas, Joanna Penrod of Plainfield, Indiana, Susie (Bruce) Whirledge of Syracuse, Indiana, and Faith (Randy) Mobley of Pawnee, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her husband, Aden; a sister, Mary Edna Ramer and a brother, David Ramer. Friends may call 10 to 11 a.m., Thursday, July 10 at the funeral home. A memorial service will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 10, 2008. Pastor Gregg Lanzen of First Baptist Church, Goshen will officiate. Burial will be in Violett Cemetery, Goshen.
