Petr Y. Sanzhura

Petr Y. Sanzhura, 82, of Middlebury, died Saturday, April 24, 2021, at home.

He was born June 29, 1938 in Donbass, Ukraine, to Yakob and Marya Sanzhura.

On November 5, 1961 he married Yelena Prudnikova.

Together they have 10 children; 33 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Petr accepted Christ as his personal savior in 1957 and was baptized in 1958 in their Baptist church.  He served as a pastor in his church from 1983 to 1995.  In 1995 the family immigrated to the US.  For a few years he served as pastor of the Ypsilanti, Michigan Baptist Church before coming to the Elkhart area.  He was a member of the Slavic Baptist Church, Elkhart.

Visitation will be Wednesday, April 28, 2021, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Slavic Baptist Church, 400 S. West Blvd., Elkhart.  An 11:30 funeral service will follow with burial in Oakridge Cemetery, Goshen.  Pastor Viktor Kidun will officiate.
