Goshen

Peter Hing Fong Moy, 86, Goshen, died peacefully on Monday, November 16, 2020, at Goshen Hospital. He had the greatest opportunity to speak to his loving wife, children and grandchildren before his passing.

He was born April 16, 1934 in Canton (Guangzhou), China to Shing Moy and York Yui Moy.

On May 5, 1951 he married Lai Kuen Lok “Lily” Moy.

She survives along with six daughters, Jenny Moy of Goshen, Maymie (Richard) Ankrom of Goshen, Minge (Scott) Johnson of Elkhart, Betty (Thaddeus) Lin of Chicago, Illinois, Kathy (Jeffery) Phillips of South Bend, Karrie (Adam) Mathews of Middlebury, and a son, James (Sandi) Moy of Wildwood, Missouri; 17 grandchildren, Emily, Megan and Matthew Ankrom, Carlie, Lindsey, Brendan and Nolan Johnson, Nathan, Andrea, and Sara Lin, Michael and Nicholas Phillips, Samantha and Ethan Mathews, Peter, Lily and Joshua Moy.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Hing Den Moy and Chuck Moon Moy and sister, Tu Lan.

A long-time Goshen resident, Peter co-owned the Pagoda Inn with his good friends Harry Moy and Sam Mark (and eventually Sam’s son Steve) for 35 years. Peter always put his family first and was happiest when cooking and baking for his children and grandchildren. Despite the challenges of being legally blind, he loved fishing, gardening, mowing the lawn, and taking walks. Peter even conquered the use of Youtube, where he searched for endless recipes to make for his family. Peter was also an avid sports fan, and especially loved the Chicago White Sox and Chicago Cubs.

A private family service and burial will take place at Violett Cemetery.
