Peggy Lou "Granny" Swoveland, 80, passed away at her home Friday evening, October 12, 2012, surrounded by her family. She was born June 9, 1932 in Gavelton (Nappanee) to Curtis C. and Edith (Gall) Stump. She married Stanford "Stan" Swoveland October 7, 1951. He survives . Also surviving are two daughters, Cynthia Ressler and Pamela Swoveland and two sons, David (Tobi) all of Goshen and Thomas at home; three grandchildren, Nicola (Marcellus) Mitchell, Shonda (Josh) O'Brien and Robert "Robb" (Brittany) Ressler; six great-grandchildren, Joshua Wilson, Shatoria and Isaiah Mitchell, Kipsangi Mankhwala, and Conrad and Rylee O'Brien; and several special nieces and nephews. Also surviving are Max, Dom and Landon Johnson, whom Peg helped raise. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Robert C. Stump; and a sister, Marilyn Hall. A member of Brenneman Memorial Missionary Church, Mrs. Swoveland attended Jefferson School. She worked 32 years as a nurse's aide, retiring in 2000 from Greencroft. She enjoyed crocheting, collecting dolls, gardening, growing flowers, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren at their special events. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, October 16, and one hour prior to services at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home where a 10 a.m., Wednesday, October 17, 2012, funeral service will be conducted. Pastors Russ Hunsberger and Troy Scott will officiate. Burial will follow in West Goshen Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Goshen Cancer Center or Goshen Care at Home Hospice.
