Payson A. Hostetler

Payson A. Hostetler, 93, of Goshen, died late Wednesday afternoon, April 18, 2007, at The Maples.   He was born on February 4, 1914, in LaGrange, Indiana, to Amos S. and Ida (Yoder) Hostetler.  He married Hazel C. Kauffman on August 8, 1943, in LaGrange County.  She survives.   A full time farmer in LaGrange County, Mr. Hostetler was a member of the Forks Mennonite Church where he served as a deacon and in other various positions through the years.  He served in Civilian Public Service in the 1940’s in California.  After retirement he did voluntary service in Brownsville, Texas.   He is survived by his wife, Hazel; two daughters, Ruby (Tim) Brower of Columbia City and Lila (Keith) Fox of Goshen; a son, Lowell (Carolyn) Hostetler of LaGrange; seven grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.   He was preceded in death by two infant sons, Dennis and Danny Hostetler; six sisters, Elva, Florence, Orpha, Millie, Dora and Mabel and a brother, Oscar.   Friends will be received 2 to 5 p.m., Sunday, April 22, 2007, at the funeral home and at the church on Monday, April 23, from 9 to 10:30 a.m.   A 10:30 a.m., Monday, April 23, 2007, funeral service will be conducted at the Forks Mennonite Church,with Pastor Eldon Stoltzfus officiating.   Burial will be in Shore Cemetery, Shipshewana.
