Pauline A. Yoder, 99, died quietly Wednesday morning, November 26, 2014 at Courtyard Healthcare. She was born in Goshen on May 30, 1915 to Lewis Franklin and Alice (Miller) Phillips. Pauline graduated from Goshen High School in 1933 and received a teaching degree from Manchester College in 1935. She was married to Leonard Yoder on December 27, 1936. She lived most of her life on CR 36 east of Goshen farming and being a homemaker. She was an active member of the Rock Run Church of the Brethren and joined the Eighth Street Mennonite Church in 1958. She was an original board member for the Michiana Mennonite Relief Sale and supported the sale with numerous donations of quilts and wall hangings. She and her husband loved to travel and toured many states with their children. Over her lifetime she visited all 50 states and four continents. Her favorite pastimes were quilting, needlepoint, playing board games, cards, and watching football and basketball. Survivors include three sons, Jay, Goshen, Ray (Jackie), Westfield and Max (Donna), Niles, Mich.; three daughters, Sue (Nevin) Troyer, Goshen, Lou (Jerry Scholand) Detwiler, Homer, Alaska and Zoe (Wayne) Stanger, Goshen; 15 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Pat E. Yoder in 1979; a son-in-law Jay Nelson Eisenhour in 1999; a grandson, Brett Walquist in 2013; two great-grandsons, Seth Eisenhour in 1991 and Michael Yoder in 2005; and three brothers, George, Earl and Paul Phillips. Friends and family may call Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. A Monday funeral service will be conducted at Eighth Street Mennonite Church at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Rock Run Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Rock Run Cemetery or Heifer International.
