Pauline G. Nusbaum, 85, of Goshen, died at her home Saturday morning, October 12, 2013. She had been in declining health the past two years. She was born April 29, 1928 in Wakarusa to Roscoe M. and Grace E. (Overholser) Stickel. She married Lawrence Nusbaum December 20, 1947 in Wakarusa. He died December 18, 1999. Survivors include four children, Renee Nusbaum, Randy (Katie) and Kent (Sherri Batten) Nusbaum, all of Goshen and Bruce Nusbaum of South Bend; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and three siblings, Miriam Hawks, Ruby Stickel and Arthur Stickel, all of Wakarusa. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; an infant brother, Robert; two sisters, Dorcas and Lucille Stickel; and a daughter-in-law, Debra Nusbaum. A lifetime area resident and a 1946 graduate of Wakarusa High School, Mrs. Nusbaum was a member of Goshen City Church of the Brethren where she sang in the choir. She volunteered at both Heifer International and Goshen General Hospital as a red coat. She loved to read, especially Anne Rule. She also enjoyed a wide range of music, including big band and rock, especially The Rolling Stones. Mrs. Nusbaum worked as a cashier at both Hooks and Judds drugstores until retiring in 1986. Friends may call 4 to 6 p.m., Thursday, October 17, 2013, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home where a 6:30 p.m. funeral service will be conducted. Pastor Bev Weaver, Goshen City Church of the Brethren will officiate. Burial at a later date will be at West Goshen Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to Heifer International or Goshen Home Care and Hospice.
