Pauline C. King

Pauline C. King, 85, of Goshen, died early Friday morning, March 10, 2006, at Greencroft Healthcare, Goshen. She was born November 5, 1920 in Belleville, Pennsylvania, to Rueben and Mary (Zook) Yoder.  On April 1, 1944, in Belleville, she married Paul L. King.  He died June 3, 1970.   Mrs. King was a member of the College Mennonite Church, Goshen.  She had worked as an office manager in the late Dr. Ernest Smucker and Dr. Jon Smucker medical practice.  She had also worked as a medical secretary in the Nursing Department at Goshen College and as a transcriptionist in the Administration Building at Goshen College.   In the 1980s Mrs. King had served 2 1/2 years with Mennonite Central Committee at Hospital Albert Schweitzer in Deschappeles, Haiti.  She avidly followed current events in Haiti and continued to support medical care in Haiti.    She was a member of the Phalo Club and enjoyed reading and gardening.   She is survived by five sons, Titus (Joy) King of Grass Lake, Michigan, James King of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, John (Kelli) King of Goshen, Daniel (Gloria) King of Elkhart, Indiana and David (Patricia) King of Richmond, Virginia, a daughter Susanne (Richard) Berlin of Richmond, Massachusetts; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.   She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul.   Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, March 17, in the Koinania Room at the College Mennonite Church.   An 11:00 a.m., memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2006 at the College Mennonite Church.  Rev. Klaudia Smucker of College Mennonite Church will officiate.   Burial will be in Elkhart Prairie Cemetery, Goshen.
