Pauline J. Horst, 93, of Goshen, died Tuesday, morning, June 24, 2008, at Greencroft Healthcare. She was born in Goshen on November 8, 1914, to Ira and Elizabeth (Rickert) Johns. She married Paul H. Horst on February 12, 1938, in Reading, Pennsylvania. He preceded her in death on August 6, 1999. A Goshen resident since 1997, Mrs. Horst lived in Escanaba, Michigan for about 30 years where she worked as a certified nurse’s aide for St. Francis Hospital. She also worked as a cook in Escanaba area schools. She was a member of the Riverview Mennonite Church in White Pigeon, Michigan. She is survived by a daughter, Janalee (Nelson) Graber of Portage, Michigan; three sons, David (Reva) Horst of Kalamazoo, Michigan, Devon (Marilyn) Horst of Barnesville, Georgia, and Donald (Linnea) Horst of Wrens, Georgia; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a brother, Galen (Edith) Johns of Goshen. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul; a son, Lowell Horst; five sisters, Vivian Schlabach, Vera Stutzman, Vest Kauffman, Miriam Wyse, and Mary Birkey; and a brother, Daniel Johns. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, June 26, and one hour prior to the service on Friday, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. A 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 27, 2008 funeral service will be conducted at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Glen Gingerich of the Riverview Mennonite Church in White Pigeon will officiate. Burial will be in Clinton Union Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be made to the Riverview Mennonite Church Building Fund.
