Paul E. Yoder, 85, of Palmetto, Florida, died Wednesday evening, May 26, 2010, at Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, Elkhart. He was born in Kokomo April 7, 1925, to the late Aden S. and Nettie (Helmuth) Yoder. He married Kathleen Marie Schanbaugh, in Wabash November 14, 1945. She died August 12, 2006. Mr. Yoder moved to Florida in 1955 where he worked most of his life in housing construction and remodeling. He was owner of Yoder Aluminum, Sarasota for 10 years before retirement. A World War II Army veteran, he served as Scoutmaster for Troop 60, Sarasota, for many years, camping with them all over Florida. He also served as Florida State Director of Gideons International. He was very involved in both Bradenton and Sarasota Brethren churches where he served as deacon, moderator and Sunday School teacher. He is survived by sons, Daryl (Dawn) Yoder and Duane (Ruth Ann) Yoder, both of Wakarusa; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Rhoda (Max) Weldy, Goshen and Naomi (Clair) Hostetler, New Paris; and two brothers, Jay (Susie) Yoder, Versailles, Missouri and Nelson (Janice) Yoder, Sarasota, Florida. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Doris Lechlitner, Julia Yoder and Wilma Yoder. Friends may call 2 to 3 p.m., Sunday, May 29, at Faith Christian Center, 1801 W. Clinton St., Goshen, where a 3 p.m. funeral service with military honors will be conducted. Pastor Kenny Rogers will officiate. Burial will be in Palms Memorial Cemetery, Sarasota. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Gideons International.
