Paul A. Yeater, 83, of Goshen, died Wednesday morning, October 1, 2008, at The Maples at Waterford Crossing, where he was admitted five weeks ago. He was born in Ashland, Ohio on December 8, 1924, to Nolan and Gladys (Gordon) Yeater. He married Audrey Anne Miller on March 28, 1948 in Goshen. She died May 24, 2005. A lifelong resident of the area, Mr. Yeater was vice president of IA Miller Chevrolet Pontiac in Goshen. He graduated from both Ashland High School and Ashland College. He service in World War II in the 14th Armored Division of the Army, known as “The Liberators”. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge and was involved in the liberation of prisoner of war and concentration camps in Germany. He was a member of First Brethren Church in New Paris and a charter member of Maplecrest Country Club. He is survived by two daughters, Paula White of Goshen and Cindy (Gary) Brown of Zionsville, Indiana; three granddaughters, Kacey Yeater and Jami White, both of Goshen, and Sarah Brown of San Francisco; a grandson, Matthew Brown of Zionsville; and a great-grandson, Hayden Yeater of Goshen. He was preceded in death by his wife, Audrey; and a sister, Thelma Appleby. Friends may call 4 to 6 p.m., Friday, October 3 at the funeral home A 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 4, 2008, funeral service will be held at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Rev. Ted Schowengerdt of First Brethren Church, New Paris, will officiate. Burial will be in Violett Cemetery, Goshen. Memorials may be made to donor’s choice.
