Paul D. Van Scoik

Paul D. VanScoik, 75, of Warsaw, died early Sunday morning, April 22, 2007, at his home.  He had been ill since January.   He was born November 13, 1931, in Fulton County, Rochester, Indiana, to Berlin and Fay (Hiatt) Van Scoik.  He married Betty Jean Barth on December 11, 1948, in Edwardsburg, Michigan.  She survives.   A Warsaw resident since 1998, Mr. Van Scoik retired in 1992 after 20 years as owner and operator of Paul’s Auto Sales, Elkhart.  Prior to that he was the owner and operator of Bee-Line Travel Trailers, Inc., Road King Travel Trailers, Work King Lawn Tractors, and Danny Boy Travel Trailers.   A member of the North Webster First Church of God and a life member (50 years) of the Iron Horseman Motorcycle Club, he enjoyed racing stock cars and traveling on his motorcycle.  He was also involved in several bands playing Gospel and Country music.   He is survived by his wife, Betty Jean; two sons, Bud (Jacqueline) Van Scoik and David Van Scoik, both of Leesburg; three grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.  He is also survived by three sisters, Frances Teeter of Union, Michigan, Delores (Ed) Pekar of Houston, Texas, and Carol (Rick) Blumenberg of Bridgeman, Michigan; and two brothers, Marvin (Wanetta) Van Scoik of Three Rivers, Michigan and Bob (Laura) Van Scoik of Rock Mount, North Carolina.   He was preceded in death by a daughter, Suzan Elain Van Scoik in 1954.   Friends will be received 10 a.m. to 12 noon, Wednesday, April 25, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home.   A 1:00 p.m., Wednesday. April 25, 2007, funeral service will be held at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home.  Rev. Jeff Boyer of the First Church of God in North Webster will officiate.   Burial will be in Prairie Street Cemetery, Elkhart.   Memorial contributions may be made to the First Church of God, North Webster or Kosciusko County Hospice.
