Paul Simone

Elkhart - Paul Simone, 75, passed away peacefully at home with his beloved wife, Erica (Neely), on October 18, 2023 from stage 4 esophageal cancer.

Paul was born on September 24, 1948, to Louis Simone and Alda Simone (Guasparini) in Manhattan, New York.

Paul entered the Navy in 1965 when he was 17 years old. One of the most impactful events in Paul’s life was attending Elohim Bible Institute in Castile, New York, where he met his wife, Erica. They were married in 1991 and graduated from the institute in 1992. In 1995, they had a son named Nathaniel.

Following graduation, Paul became pastor of Farmersville Center Community Church in Franklinville, New York, and served there for a little under three years. While working as a security guard at Houghton College, Paul earned an Associate in Occupational Studies for Computers and Electronic Systems Technology at Alfred State College in May 2001. Paul and Erica entered the mission field in 2004 and began serving with SonSet Solutions, a global technology ministry based in Elkhart, Indiana.

Paul loved riding his bicycle, having logged 6,000 miles on a cross-country trip in his 30s. He continued to enjoy riding his bicycle over the years, picking vacation destinations with his wife based on the biking trails in the vicinity. His next favorite enjoyment was eating ice cream.

As Paul grew older, his greatest passion was to share Jesus his Savior whom he had met as a young man and who had radically transformed his life over the years.

Paul is predeceased by his father, Louis Simone, and his mother, Alda Simone, as well as his sister Mary Lou Robbins. He is survived by his wife, Erica, and his son, Nathaniel.

A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church of Goshen, 1011 South Indiana Ave., Goshen, Indiana, on Sunday, November 5, 2023 at 3 p.m. with one hour of calling prior to the service.
