Paul John Shrock, 84, of Goshen, passed away, Friday, January 21, 2022, at his home surrounded by family.
He was born April 1, 1937, in Goshen to John E. and Ruth K. (Yoder) Shrock.
On August 26, 1956, he married Lucille Bontrager in Goshen.
She survives along with three sons, Stephen (Marcia) Shrock and Wesley (Donna) Shrock, both of Louisville, Kentucky, and Weldon (Jenell) Shrock, Rosedale, Ohio; seven grandchildren; Bryon (Jenna) Shrock, Louisville, Tim (Ashley) Shrock, Jeffersonville, Indiana, Brooke (Scott) Swartzentruber, Columbus, Ohio, Natalie (Zak) Bushon, Louisville, Brittany (Isaac) Fisher, Rosedale, Ohio, Krista Shrock, Marysville, Ohio, Greg Shrock, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, two great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Marion (Diane) Shrock, Goshen and Carl (Judy) Shrock, Middlebury.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Franklin P. Shrock; a daughter, Grace Y. Shrock; and a sister, Rosetta R. Shrock.
After graduating from Eastern Mennonite University in Harrisonburg, Virginia he worked as a medical technologist in Louisville, Kentucky for 37 years at the University of Louisville - Jewish Hospital, retiring in 2002 and moving back to Goshen.
He was part of planting a church, (Louisville Mennonite Fellowship), to support the ongoing voluntary service program of Rosedale International, (formerly known as Rosedale Mennonite Missions) which served the Louisville community, assuming the role of CMC licensed/ordained pastor for 13 years. In his retirement years he was an active member of Mount Joy Mennonite Church, Goshen, Indiana
In 1975 he and his wife purchased a 50-acre retreat, “The Farm” in southern Indiana where he enjoyed spending time in nature experiencing many times of spiritual refreshment. It was also a place they welcomed their family and friends, hosting many retreats and outings
Friends may call Friday, January 28, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. There will also be one hour of calling Saturday, January 29, beginning at 12:30 p.m. prior to the 1:30 p.m. funeral service at Mount Joy Mennonite Church, 120 N. 23rd Street Goshen. Pastor Ben Shirk will officiate.
Burial will follow at Miller 8 Square Cemetery, Goshen.
