Paul F. Koepke, 81, of Goshen, passed away Thursday, February 11, 2021, at Green House Village.
He was born June 18, 1939 in Kohler, Wisconsin to Paul R. and Alma A. (Grapentine) Koepke.
On August 10, 1963 he married Judith L. Tschantz in Bluffton, Ohio. She survives.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a half-brother, Robert Fromm.
Rev. Koepke moved to Goshen in 1969 and served Plymouth United Church of Christ until his retirement in 1992.
He earned a bachelor’s degree from Lakeland University, Sheboygan, Wisconsin in 1961 and a D. Min. degree in 1980 from United Theological Seminary of the Twin Cities. He was a member of Zion United Church of Christ, South Bend.
Paul delighted in traveling and experiencing new locations, whether in the U.S. or in other countries. The Tetons in Wyoming and the Alps in Switzerland were equally awe inspiring. The desert area in southern Arizona had the same appeal as the desolate places in the Holy Land. The Boundary Waters in Minnesota drew him as much as did Door County in Wisconsin. Germany, both before and after the unification of the East and West sectors, was especially dear to him because of family connections. In all of these places Paul enjoyed making acquaintances with the local people, finding out how they lived their lives in their surroundings. He truly was “The Happy Wanderer.”
