Paul W. Huffman, 88, of Elkhart, died at his home Saturday night, November 15, 2014.
He was born May 10, 1926 in Goshen to John and Ethelyn (Shellenberger) Huffman.
On September 5, 1946 he married Elizabeth "Betty" H. Douma in Goshen.
She survives along with two sons, Gregory P. (Shirley) Huffman, of Elkhart, and Doug R. (Sharon) Huffman, of Goshen; four grandchildren, Tonya Carrell, Kari Jones, Sean Huffman and Angela Tucker; and five great-grandchildren, Quinton and Trenton Carrell; Emily Jones; and Dalton and Sophia Huffman.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Pauline Whitmer; and two brothers, Russell and Wayne Huffman.
A lifetime area resident, Mr. Huffman was an award winning photographer and news reporter for the Elkhart Truth. Many of his awards came from the photos of the Palm Sunday tornadoes in 1965.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Goshen, and the American Legion. A past president of the Goshen Jaycees, he also served as a former scout master for Troop #5.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, November 18, 2014 and one hour prior to the 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 19, 2014 funeral service at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Reverends Ed and Brenda Fritz will officiate.
Cremation will follow the service at Yoder-Culp Crematory and burial will be at a later date in Violett Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be directed to First United Methodist Church.
