Patrick Evan Vance, 57, of Goshen, died early Thursday morning, April 12, 2007, at his home after a three year battle with cancer. He was born June 3, 1949, in Goshen, to Allen L. and Neva (Hoke) Vance. He married Susan Laymon on April 26, 1997, in Goshen. A life long resident of the area, Mr. Vance graduated from Goshen High School in 1968 where he played football and made the all state football team. He attended Manchester College for two years and also played football there. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Goshen, and most recently had been working with his son at Air Comfort Pros, Elkhart. He had also done mission work in Haiti for 14 years. He is survived by his wife, Susan; parents, Allen and Neva Vance of Goshen; a son, Evan Eugene (Angela) Vance of Elkhart; three daughters, Leslie Miller of Auburn, Indiana, Elisabeth (David) Rogers and Monique Vance, both of Elkhart; and 13 grandchildren. He is also survived by three brothers, Jeffrey (Gail) Vance of Elkhart, Michael (Sandy) Vance of New Paris, and Timothy (Patricia) Vance of South Bend; and two sisters, Cheryl Bowman and Debra (Paul) Jones, both of Goshen. Friends will be received 1 to 6 p.m., Sunday, April 15, and one hour prior to the service on Monday, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. A 10:00 a.m., funeral service will be held on Monday, April 16, 2007 at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Pastors Ed and Brenda Fritz of First United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in West Goshen Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be made to the Life Center of the First United Methodist Church or Goshen Care at Home Hospice.
