Patrick G. Robinson, 80, of Goshen, passed away at his home early Wednesday morning, March 13, 2013. He was born October 30, 1932 in Goshen to Floyd and Wilma (Fitzpatrick) Robinson. On April 26, 1952 he married Dorothy Garman. She survives along with three daughters, Jane (Brent) Rheinheimer and Susan (Glen) Carpenter, both of Goshen, and Sally (Dr. James) Thwaits of Syracuse; six grandchildren, two step-grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren and a brother, Francis (Lei) Robinson of Honolulu, Hawaii. He was preceded in death by his parents and a great-granddaughter, Macy Lynn Bergman. A lifelong Goshen resident, Mr. Robinson was a member of St. James Episcopal Church where he was Senior Warden Emeritus. A graduate of Goshen High School, he earned a bachelor's degree from Shorter University, Rome, Georgia. He served with the U.S. Navy from 1951-55. He worked as a general manager at Starcraft Marine and Smoker Craft. Mr. Robinson was a Red Cross water safety instructor, teaching both swimming and life saving courses to adults and children. He served on the Board of Directors of Oaklawn; and volunteered at I.U. Health Goshen Hospital as a Red Coat and with the Heart Therapy Program and Scholarship Board. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until the 2 p.m. memorial service on Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at St. James Episcopal Church. Rev. Larry R. Biller will officiate. In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A private family burial will be held at Violett Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society, Goshen Home Care and Hospice or St. James Episcopal Church.
