Patrick Paul Rippey, 81, passed away on Monday, October 20, 2025. He was born on December 23, 1943, to Paul and Nancy (Silliman) Rippey.
Patrick proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1965 to 1967 during the Vietnam War. Following his service, he was employed with Goshen Manufacturing Company in the Blue Ribbon Ladder Division.
He was a member of the Eagle Scouts and had a lifelong appreciation for nature. Patrick enjoyed woodworking and creating things with his hands. He also loved his daily bike riding on the many trails in Goshen. He was known for his frugal nature, and his nieces and nephews affectionately referred to him as "Uncle Scrooge". But unlike Scrooge, his frugality only applied to himself as he reused, repurposed, and re-engineered. In un-Scrooge like fashion, he never hesitated to help any of his family in any way he could.
Patrick is survived by his sisters, Mary Ann Herman of South Bend and Paula Niles of Elkhart. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Stephen Rippey and Michael Rippey.
Burial will take place at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at Violett Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Boy Scouts of America.
Arrangements are entrusted to Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen.
