Patricia Evelyn Smith Riley, 89, of Elkhart and formerly of Goshen, went to be with the Lord, Sunday, December 12, 2021.
She was born May 5, 1932, at Lucky Hospital, Wolf Lake, to Frank W. and Fairy B. (Swihart) Smith.
Patricia moved to Michigan at age 6 and attended kindergarten and lived there for a year before moving back to Indiana. She attended grade school in Indiana and had her first job at the age of 14 at a dime store in Goshen. She graduated from Goshen High School in 1950 and was active in Youth for Christ. Pat attended a roller-skating party and met her future husband and after a five-year courtship, they were married January 7, 1955, in Goshen.
Pat worked at Penn Controls until 1957 when she became a full-time mother and housewife. She enjoyed football, basketball and ice skating.
An active member of Brenneman Memorial Missionary Church, she served as director of Junior Church, taught Sunday school and assisted with Vacation Bible School.
She is survived by a daughter, Sue Ann Riley of Elkhart; a son, Jerry (Donna) Riley of Goshen; two granddaughters, Julie (Justin) Kilmer and Ashley (Kevin) Graber; three great-grandchildren, Hudson Graber and Sofia and Deacon Kilmer; and a brother, Paul Smith of Arizona.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Don Riley; an infant great-granddaughter, Ava Grace Kilmer, and two brothers, John and Donald Smith.
She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. We will keep her memory in our hearts forever.
A private graveside service will take place at Violett Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be given to Brenneman Memorial Missionary Church, Goshen.
