Patricia "Pat" Jo Huber

Patricia “Pat” Huber, 77, of Goshen, entered into rest on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at Goshen Hospital. 

Born December 5, 1948, in Goshen, she was the daughter of Robert Rohrer and Dorothy (LeCount) Rohrer Hess. They, together with her brother Richard Rohrer, preceded her in death.

On June 6, 1970, in Millersburg, Pat and Gary Huber began the life they would share for fifty-six years. She is cherished by her husband, Gary; her daughter, Jennifer (Brian) Krider of Goshen; and her four beloved grandchildren—Max, Jack, Luke, and Finn Krider—who were the particular joy of her later years. She is also survived by her stepbrother, Dave (Diane) Hess of Wakarusa, and her stepsister, Becky Loth of Goshen. 

From childhood Pat knew her vocation. In the second grade she decided she would be a teacher, and she never wavered. For thirty-three years she taught second and third grade at Waterford, shaping young minds with patience, warmth, and an unshakable belief in every child who sat before her. She loved “her kids” with a constancy that former students still remember. She was equally a mentor to younger teachers, offering guidance without fanfare. A 1970 graduate of Manchester College, she later earned her master’s degree from Indiana University South Bend. Even in retirement she remained bound to the profession she loved, serving the Elkhart County Retired Teachers Association and volunteering at St. John the Evangelist School. 

Faith was the quiet center of her life. A member of Goshen First Church, she taught Sunday school and, with characteristic generosity, coordinated funeral dinners—always present, always willing, always glad to serve. 

Pat leaves behind a legacy measured not in monuments but in lives quietly changed: a teacher’s steady kindness, a wife’s commitment, a mother's enduring love, a grandmother’s delight, and a servant’s open hands. She will be missed by family, friends, former students, and all who were fortunate enough to know her. 

Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, September 21, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, September 22, at Goshen First Church, with Jeff Bealmear and Rich Hull officiating. Burial will follow at Brown Cemetery in Millersburg.
