Pamela Ann Pottinger VanVurst, 67, of Goshen passed away unexpectedly Friday, October 4, at home. Born on June 21, 1946 in Detroit, Michigan, Pam was the daughter of the late Maze Bakewell Pottinger and David Pottinger. She graduated from Andover High School in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan and attended college in Rhode Island until she left to be married. In the summer of 1965 Pam married Henry VanVurst III, who preceded her in death. A longtime resident of Michigan, Pam will be remembered for her generous heart, love of children and animals, and ability to find value in everything. "Sweet Pam" is survived by her children: Chip VanVurst and Matthew (Lesley) VanVurst, both of Florida; and Ashley VanVurst, at home; father, Dave and his wife, Faye Peterson of Goshen; brother Victor (Jane) Pottinger of Florida; sister Charity (Nick) Boyd of Goshen; 5 grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and many dear friends. A memorial service will be held at Yoder Culp Funeral Home in Goshen on Sunday, October 13, 2013 at 3 p.m. with internment to follow at Riverside Cemetery in Plymouth, Michigan at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorial donations be made for the care of Ashley VanVurst c/o Chase Bank, 401 S. Main St., Goshen, Indiana 46526.
