Owen Miller Jr., 83, of Goshen, died Tuesday, May 21, 2019, at Courtyard Healthcare.
He was born July 29, 1935 in Goshen to Owen and Sarah (Lehman) Miller.
On November 2, 1956 he married Carol Miller in Nappanee.
She survives along with four sons, Rodney (Beth) Miller of Union, Michigan, Tim (Kathy) Miller of Naubinway, Michigan, Phillip (Bridget) Miller of Goshen and Byron (Debbie) Miller of Carmel; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and three sisters, Ida Bontrager of Goshen, Edna Graber of Middlebury and twin, Sarah (Frank) Christner, of Pocohontas, Missouri.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by siblings Alice O. Miller, Mary A. Bontrager and John O. Miller.
A lifetime member of the Goshen community, Owen owned and operated Miller’s Barber Shop for more than 50 years. He pitched in the area fast pitch softball leagues for more than 30 years and was a former member of the Goshen Noon Kiwanis Club. He also was a volunteer with the Elkhart Township Fire Department and served as a Seagoing Cowboy. Owen enjoyed working in his yard, playing golf, and riding around town on his scooter.
Visitation will be Friday, May 24, 2019, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. A 10 a.m. Saturday, May 25, memorial service will be held at Waterford Mennonite Church where he was a longtime member.
A private burial will be in Violett Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to Waterford Mennonite Church or the MS Foundation.
