Oscar A. Packer, Jr., 81, of Goshen, died early Friday morning, February 10, 2006, at Goshen General Hospital. He was born June 15, 1924, in Goshen, to Oscar K. and Chloa M. (Arnold) Packer, Sr. On November 4, 1946, in Millersburg, he married Anabelle Bates. She survives. Mr. Packer, a World War II Army veteran, was a clerk at the Goshen Post Office. He was a member of the Middlebury Church of the Brethren and the Middlebury Exchange Club. He is survived by his wife, Anabelle; three daughters, Gloria (Chuck) Wymer of Churubusco, Glenda Packer of Middlebury and Gwen (Todd) Linn of Goshen; three sons, Gregory Packer of Middlebury, Gary, (Martha) Packer of Goshen, and Gordon (Cindy) Packer of New Paris; 21 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Donna Sheley of Goshen and a brother, Robert (Verla) Packer of Hayden Lake, Idaho. Friends may call 1 to 5 p.m., Sunday, February 12, at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service at the Middlebury Church of the Brethren. A 10:00 a.m., Monday, February 13, 2006, service will be held at the Middlebury Church of the Brethren. Rev. Russell Jensen will officiate. Burial will be in Gracelawn Cemetery, Middlebury. Memorial contributions may be made to the Middlebury Church of the Brethren Building Fund.
