Orvin F. Kropf, 72, of Goshen, passed away at his home surrounded by his family Tuesday afternoon, April 17, 2012. He was born July 2, 1939 in Shipshewana to Jacob and Sarah (Yoder) Kropf. He married Lorene K. Thomas April 3, 1960 in Middlebury. She survives. Also surviving are three children, Kenda (Bob) Mishler of Shipshewana, Kevin R. (Sherrie) Kropf of Goshen, and Kenlin J. (Andrea) Kropf of Roanoke; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four sisters, Dorothy M. (Vernon) Thomas and Norma J. (Clifford) Schrock, both of Middlebury, and Mary Ellen (David) Bontrager and LaVerda F. (Devon) Bechtel, both of Goshen; and a brother, Omer G. (Sue) Kropf, Syracuse. A lifelong area resident, Mr. Kropf served his 1W in Iowa from 1960-62. He was owner of Topeka Implement from 1973-1986 and then he worked as purchaser for Supreme Corporation until retiring in 2008. He was a member of the Nappanee Missionary Church and served as a deacon, care group leader and on the Marriage Enrichment Committee. He also participated in mission trips with the church to Mexico and Puerto Rico. Orv, along with his wife, enjoyed entertaining in their home. His gift of hospitality was shared with many friends and family over the years. Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, April 19, and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, April 20, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Family and friends will gather at 2 p.m., Saturday, April 21, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home to go in procession to Miller Cemetery for a graveside service. A 6 p.m., Saturday, April 21, 2012, memorial service will be conducted at Nappanee Missionary Church. Pastors David Engbrecht and Norm Reimer will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Nappanee Missionary Church for Missions.
