Oma G. Hershberger, 98, of Goshen, died Monday morning, November 10, 2014, at Greencroft Healthcare where she had been since March 1. She was born in Middlebury, Oct. 23, 1916 to Harry and Minnie (Miller) Kalb. On May 5, 1940 she married Alvin W. Hershberger at the Silverstreet Mennonite Church. He died Nov. 19, 2007. Survivors include two daughters, Julia (Joe) Schrock and Connie (Ernie) Knepp, both of Middlebury; four grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Oneta Gardner of Goshen. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Lee in 1949; five brothers, Orla, Olen, Oscar, Otis and Orval; and four sisters, Osie Hostetler, Olive Yoder, Othny Miller and Opal Miller. A lifetime Middlebury resident, graduated from Middlebury High School where she played on the basketball team. She worked as a clerk at Smucker Drugs for 20 years until retiring in 1978. After her retirement she worked in the cafeteria at Northridge High School. She was a member of Silverwood Mennonite Church, Goshen. She enjoyed making Christmas candies. Friends may call Friday, November 14, 2014, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. A 10 a.m., Saturday, November 15, 2014, funeral service will be conducted at Silverwood Mennonite Church. Burial will follow at Forest Grove Cemetery, Middlebury. Memorial contributions may be given to Silverwood Mennonite Church.
