Oleta L. Miller, 84, of Columbia City, formerly of Milford and New Paris, died Tuesday afternoon, July 28, 2015 at Miller's at Oak Pointe. She was born October 11, 1930 in Van Buren County, Arkansas to James William and Edna Jane (Payne) Leird. On June 28, 1950 she married Thomas Chalk in Leachville, Arkansas. He died September 16, 1979. She later married Albert "Big Al" Miller in Milford on September 11, 1981. He died November 21, 2000. Survivors include two daughters, Debra Olmstead of Bristol and Sandra (Ric) Vanlaningham of Columbia City; two step-children, Luke Chalk of White Pigeon, Michigan and Barbara Burgress of Florida; 21 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Nellie Barnhart of Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents and both husbands; a son, Kenneth Chalk; 3 step-children; a step-grandchild; a step great-grandchild; seven brothers; and three sisters. Oleta worked in housekeeping at Goshen General Hospital until her retirement in the late 1980's. She was a member of the American Legion Auxillary Post #253, North Webster and loved by all her grandchildren. Visitation will be two hours prior to the 2 p.m. funeral service Saturday, August 1, 2015 at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen. Rev. Myron Drent of Country Bible Church, North Webster, will officiate. Burial will follow at New Paris Cemetery, New Paris. Memorial contributions may be directed to the donor's choice.
