O Irene Brown

O. Irene Brown, 90, of Goshen, died Sunday afternoon, November 29, 2009, at Courtyard Healthcare Center where she had been a resident the past two years. She was born in Ontario, Canada, on October 25, 1919, to George and Mabel  (Winterburn) Armstrong.  She married Robert Brown on November 25, 1952, in Ontario.  He preceded her in death on March 25, 1978. Mrs. Brown was a member of the Plymouth United Church of Christ; a lifetime member of the DAV auxiliary and had been employed by the former Salem Bank for 23 years before retiring as a controller.  She enjoyed euchre, theater and trips to Las Vegas. She is survived by a daughter, Judith Fowler of Goshen; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Scott Brown in April of 2001; and a sister, Grace R. Jackson in July 2000. Friends may call 1 to 3 p.m., Thursday, December 3, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home where a 3:00 p.m., funeral service will be conducted.  Pastor John von Lackum will officiate. Burial will be at a later date in Violett Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be made to the Plymouth United Church of Christ or to the Elkhart Civic Theater.
