Norman Clarence Swihart

Norman C. Swihart, 89, of Goshen, passed away at his home Sunday afternoon, July 26, 2015. He was born May 27, 1926 in Osceola to Roy and Mary (Long) Swihart. On June 28, 1994 he married Montine Kelly Wedge in New Paris. She survives along with a daughter, Dawn (Craig) Jackson of Middlebury; a son, Jack Swihart of South Bend; three sisters, Elsie (Tom) Kauffman of Goshen, Clara (Bud) Hammon of Elkhart and Mary Alice Beecham of Goshen; and two brothers, Roger (Connie) Swihart of Quinter, Kansas and Bill Swihart of Elkhart. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Bruce and Randy Swihart; and a brother, Robert. A longtime area resident, Norm worked in transportation and custodial areas for the Jefferson and Middlebury school systems, retiring in 1988 as Transportation and Custodial Coordinator from Goshen Community Schools. He was a member of the Dunkard Brethren Church, Goshen. Friends may call Thursday, July 30, 2015, from 2 until the 6 p.m. funeral service at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Rev. Terry Gunderman will officiate. Family and friends will meet Friday, July 31, 2015, at 10 a.m. at West Goshen Cemetery for the graveside service. Memorial contributions may be given to Faith Mission, Elkhart.
