Norman E. Motts

Norman E. Motts, 88, died early Sunday morning, August 1, 2010, at Greencroft Healthcare, Goshen.  He has lived in the Goshen area since 1998, coming from South Bend.  He was born on April 11, 1922, in South Bend, to the late Edward T. and Elva (Linard) Motts.  He was married on September 24, 1955, in St. Joseph, Michigan, to Clara M. Pschigoda.  She survives.  Mr. Motts worked as a Pay Master at Uniroyal Rubber, Mishawaka, for 34 years.  He graduated from South Bend Central High in 1940 and from Cartage College, Cartage, Illinois, in 1950.  In between his high school and college years Mr. Botts served in the U.S. Army, 99th Infantry Division, 324th Medical Battalion, Company D, and fought in the Battle of the Bulge.  He was a member of “Battle Babies.”  He separated from the service in January 1946 as a Supply Sergeant. He is survived by one nice, Nancy (Jim) Myers; one nephew, Craig (Donna) Kretchman, both of Niles, Michigan; three great-nieces; and two great-nephews.  He was preceded in death by one infant son, Roy Norman Motts, in 1959; and one sister, Peggy Kretchman.  Friends may call from 9-10 a.m., on Wednesday, August 4, at the Meetinghouse at Greencroft.  A funeral service will be held immediately after calling at 10 a.m. at the Meetinghouse at Greencroft, Goshen.  Rev. Russell Snyder, visiting Pastor at Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, South Bend, will officiate.  Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, South Bend.  Memorials may be made to Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, or Greencroft Foundation.
