Norma Ellen Stahley

Norma Ellen (Hire) Stahley, age 87, passed away on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at Greenleaf Nursing Home.

She was born on January 1, 1938, in Ligonier, Indiana, to Edna (Dellinger) Hire and Walter E. Hire. On June 15, 1957, she married Larry Eugene Stahley, who preceded her in death.

Norma was the ultimate caregiver, always placing the needs of others before her own. She found great joy in gardening, going to the beach, and especially spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she loved dearly.

She is survived by her children: Tim (Kellie) Stahley of Bristol, Valerie Rogers of Bristol, Teresa (Andrew III) Jackson of Goshen, and Todd (Laura) Stahley of Wasilla, Alaska; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; her sister Jane Wade of Elkhart; and her brother David Hire of Ligonier.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Larry Eugene Stahley; her siblings Walter Hire, Joy Patrick, Marvis Clark, and Donna Lee Hire; and her half-siblings Joan, Betty, Martha, Warren William, and Tom Hire.

Visitation will be held on Monday, December 29, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Richville Community Church, Ligonier, Indiana. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m., also at the church.

Memorial Contributions may be directed to St. Judes Children’s Hospital.
