Goshen – Nona “Charlotte” Wells, 85, of Goshen died Monday, October 14, 2024 at Waterford Health Campus.
She was born July 29, 1939 in Scottsburg to Virgil R. and Lois Earlene (Kelley) Woods.
On May 10, 1957 she married Herschel V. Wells.
He survives along with two daughters, Pam (Rodger) Kelly of Syracuse and Pennie (Lee) Nisley of Pagosa Springs, Colorado; daughter in law, Michelle Wells of Goshen; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a great-great grandson.
Other survivors include four brothers, Clifford Woods of Albion, LeRoy Woods of Zephyrhills, Florida, Mike (Treva) Woods, and Richard Woods, both of Scottsburg.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Duane Wells, and a brother, James Woods.
Mrs. Wells was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She studied cosmetology in school, but after she married, she along with her husband became owners and operators of several restaurants, including Gropp’s Famous Fish, Syracuse, and several Kentucky Fried Chicken franchises.
She enjoyed studying family genealogy and history. Charlotte and Herschel enjoyed traveling and taking cruises. Family was most important to her, spending time with each of her children, grandchildren and her first great-great grandson.
The family will have a celebration of her life at a later date.
Burial will take place at Syracuse Cemetery.
Yoder-Culp Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
