Nikolay Horban

Nikolay Horban, 90, of Goshen, died Saturday afternoon, March 22, 2014, at IU Health Goshen Hospital where he was admitted on the 19th of March. Nick was born in Boshowka, Ukraine on June 1, 1923 to Konstantine and Domka (Putivchenko) Horban. He moved to the United States in March of 1951. On July 20, 1958 in Goshen, he married the love of his life Nadia Svircovsky. She died January 17, 1995. Surviving are two daughters, Lida (Dave) Hire, of Elkhart and Vera Shank, of White Pigeon, Michigan; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and a sister, Anna Iwanko, of Elkhart. Mr. Horban was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and a sister, Maria Kabluk. Nick retired from Goshen Rubber as an inspector after 35 years of service. He attended Beulah Missionary Church, and was a former member at Holy Trinity Ukranian Orthodox Church, Goshen. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 25, 2014, from 4-7 pm and funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at 10:00 am all at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen. Burial will follow at Oakridge Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial donations may be directed to United Cancer Services of Elkhart County.
