Neva Mae Sherman

Neva Mae Sherman, 83, of Goshen, died early Thursday morning, June 22, 2006, at home, after an extended illness.   She was born April 23, 1923, in Silver Lake, Indiana.  Her grandfather, the late Burt Young, raised her.   On June 29, 1946 in Goshen, she married Lester C. Sherman.  He died March 13, 1997.   A graduate of Silver Lake High School, Mrs. Sherman was a homemaker.  She worked as a cafeteria aide at the former Towncrest Junior High School in Goshen.   A member of the West Goshen Church of the Brethren, she is survived by three sons, Ronald (Gwendolyn) Sherman of Brandywine, Maryland, Steve (Diana) Sherman of Goshen, and Scott (Susan) Sherman of Thornton, Colorado.  Also surviving are six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.   Her husband, Lester and a granddaughter, Julie Sherman, preceded her in death.   Friends will be received 1 to 3 p.m., Sunday, June 25, and one hour prior to the service on Monday at the funeral home.   Rev. Ray Barkey will conduct a 10 a.m. funeral service on Monday, June 26, 2006, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home.   Burial will be in the West Goshen Cemetery, Goshen.   Memorial contributions may be given to Elkhart General Home Care.
