Nellie J. Slabach

Nellie J. Slabach, 95, of Goshen, died early Friday morning, April 8, 2011 at IU Health Goshen Hospital. She was born in LaGrange County on December 15, 1915, to the late Jacob E. and Bertha (Kemp) Jones.  She married Albert J. Slabach January 1936.  He died August 25, 2981. She is survived by three daughters, Mary Ann Miller and Edna Fern Waddell, both of  Goshen,  and Fannie Mae (Richard) Jones of Cape Coral, Florida: a son, Wilbur Ray (Gloria) Slabach of Nova Scotia; six grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 15 step-great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; 27 step-great-great-grandchildren; three sep-great-great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Anna Hostetler of Washington. She was preceded in death by siblings, Amelia J. Slusher, Amanda Jones, Fred, Levi, Jacob, Perry, Nathaniel, Abraham, David and Toby Jones. A lifetime area resident, Mrs. Slabach attended Jefferson Brethren Church; worked at Johnson Controls for more than 30 years; and volunteered at the Salvation Army. Friends may call 1 to 5 p.m., Sunday, April 10 at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home where a 12, noon, Monday, April 11, 2011, funeral service will be conducted. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army.
