Naomi M. Mick, 80, of Elkhart, died early Friday morning, April 21, 2006, at Elkhart General Hospital. She had been ill the past 12 days. She was born September 30, 1925, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Charles and Edna (West) DeVault. On September 30, 1925, in Goshen, she married Richard G. Mick. He died April 3, 2000. Mrs. Mick had moved back to Elkhart in 2005, coming from Winter Haven, Florida where she and her husband had moved to in 1974. She had previously lived in Elkhart from 1953 to 1974. A 1943 Goshen High School graduate, Mrs. Mick loved to cook and bake. She played bridge, was an avid golfer and enjoyed all sports. She also played organ and piano; still playing on Sunday mornings for services at Brentwood. She was a former member and Sunday School teacher at the First Congregational Church and a former member of the Lake Region Country Club. As a child she had been involved in Eastern Star and Rainbow. She was a 19 year breast cancer survivor. Mrs. Mick is survived by two sons, Douglas (Karen) Mick of Elkhart and Jeffrey (Elizabeth) Mick of Bonita Springs, Florida; three grandsons; two granddaughters; two great-grandsons and three great-granddaughters. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; a son, Dennis, and a brother, Charles DeVault. Friends may call 2 to 5 p.m., Sunday, April 23, 2006, at the funeral home. A 10:00 a.m. funeral service will beheld on Monday, April 24, 2006, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Burial will be in Rice Cemetery, Elkhart. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.
