Nancy Ann Pestow, 93, of Wakarusa died Thursday, December 7, 2023 at The Waters of Wakarusa.
She was born May 31, 1930 in Goshen to Carl John Paul and Agnes Mathilda "Maude" (Bosse) Pestow.
She is survived by nine nieces and seven nephews; 45 great-nieces and nephews; 63 great-great-nieces and nephews and 39 great-great-great-nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by three brothers, Phillip, Bernard and George Pestow.
Nancy was born and raised in Goshen until about age 28 after briefly living in Pennsylvania, then moved to Hawaii for 8 years, then to California for 25 years and in 1993 moved to Arizona until 2017 when she returned to Indiana.
She worked as a receptionist, bookkeeper, cashier-teller, accounting-data processing specialist, loan counselor and loan officer. She retired from Pan American World Airways in 1990 after working for them for 30 years. She later worked for San Mateo County, California with mentally challenged children, pre-school to high school ages. When she moved to Arizona, she worked at a Recycling Association and then at an Information and Referral Service, ending her working career in 2004.
Nancy also volunteered at the San Mateo, California Area Senior Center where she was given and award for many hours of service. In Sun City, Arizona Nancy and her dogs were certified in the Alliance of Therapy Dogs, Pet Therapy Program where they volunteered weekly from 2008 to 2016. This program was designed to give hospitalized patients the opportunity to have a pet visit to promote comfort smiles and joy. Nancy belonged to St. Clement of Rome Catholic Church in Sun City, Arizona and served as an usher every Sunday at mass.
Visitation will be Wednesday, December 13, 2023 from 10 until the 11:00 a.m. Funeral mass at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Goshen.
Burial will follow at Violett Cemetery.
