N. Joan Walsh

N. Joan Walsh, 96, of Goshen died Sunday, May 18, 2025 at Greencroft Healthcare.

She was born March 31, 1929 in Nappanee to Roy and Pearl (Hochstetler) Strauss.

On March 16, 1966 she married Lawrence “Tubby” A. Walsh in Goshen. He died March 7, 2008.

Survivors include her 12 nieces and nephews; numerous extended family; and special friends and caregivers, Mick and Matthew Luce.

Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Lyle Strauss; five sisters, Dorothy Johnson, Jean Phillips, Lara Honderich, Betty Weldy and Jane Gehman; a nephew; and a special friend, Connie Luce.

Joan graduated with pride from Nappanee High School in 1947. Her pursuit of knowledge continued at Goshen College and later at South Bend College of Commerce, equipping her for a long and successful career.

For an impressive half-century, her professional life, where she served as a steadfast and capable Secretary/Administrative Assistant for several organizations before retiring from Middlebury Hardwood Products,

Beyond the workplace, her life was rich with community and passion. A devoted Christian and prayer warrior, she knew no enemies. She most recently was a member of Waterford Mennonite Church in Goshen, where she found deep meaning and fellowship within its congregation.

Joan was dedicated to her family, steadfast in planning family gatherings.

Her love for music resonated through her participation as a former member of the Evergreen Singers at Greencroft, where her voice added to the chorus of harmony. She was also a former member of Professional Secretaries International.

Visitation will be Thursday, May 29, 2025 from 9:30 until the11:00 a.m. funeral service at Waterford Mennonite Church, 65975 State Road 15, Goshen, IN 46526. Pastor Deron Bergstresser will officiate.

Cremation will follow after the service at Yoder-Culp Crematory.

Burial of cremated remains will take place at Flint Cemetery, Angola at a later date.
