Myrtle Schmucker, 88, of Goshen, passed away Saturday evening, August 16, 2014, at Courtyard Healthcare Center where she had been a resident the past year. She was born November 25, 1925 in Allen County to David and Elizabeth (Liechty) Witmer. On June 1, 1947 she married Rev. Eli Schmucker in Allen County. He died October 14, 2010. She is survived by four sons, Daniel L. Schmucker of New Paris, Arnold J. (Ann) Schmucker of Portland, Oregon, Howard D. (Brenda) Schmucker of Goshen and Edward L. (Rena) Schmucker of New Paris; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandson. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four sisters, Dorothy King, Eldora Blosser, Eldina Witmer and Gladys Haarer; a brother, Wilbur "Bill" Witmer; a daughter-in-law, Darla Schmucker and a granddaughter, Kathryn. A graduate of Leo High School, Mrs. Schmucker was a homemaker as well as working as a bookkeeper for Schmucker Excavating. She was a member of Family Worship Center at the Lighthouse, Goshen, where she and Eli enjoyed the privilege of pastoring for most of their retirement years. Friends may call Thursday, August 21, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home where a 10 a.m., Friday, August 22, 2014, funeral service will be conducted. Pastor James Hochstetler will officiate. Burial will follow in Elkhart Prairie Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be made to Family Worship Center at the Lighthouse.
