Myrl W. Gautsche

April 20, 1930 — May 6, 2014

Myrl W. Gautsche, 84, of Elkhart, left the halls of Hubbard Hill, Tuesday morning, May 6, 2014, to walk the streets of glory with his sweetheart, hand in hand. Myrl was born April 20, 1930 in Fulton County Ohio, to Lawrence and Inez (Wyse) Gautsche. He was raised in Archbold, Ohio. At the age of 20 Myrl was born again by accepting Jesus Christ as his Savior, and spent the rest of his life dedicated to serving the Lord. He married Elizabeth Miller in Elkhart, October 7, 1950. She preceded him in death in 2008. He is survived by two daughters, Bonnie Logan, of Elkhart, and Cheryl (Gary) Barnard, of Mesa, Arizona; 16 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; three sisters, Valetta (Duane) Van Valkenburg, Geneva (Richard) Miller and Joyce Taylor, all of Ohio; and a brother, Lawrence Gautsche, Jr., of New York. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and a sister, Carolyn Fricke. He served our country with Mennonite Volunteer Service in Colorado, from 1952-1954, and volunteered with prison ministry for many years. Myrl retired from the Electrical Department of NIBCO in 1995, where he had worked for 43 years. After his retirement he became a full time RVer and enjoyed traveling. He continued to share God's love and his God given talents with people all across America. Myrl was a member of Prairie Street Mennonite Church and later Elkhart Christian Assembly where he served faithfully in many different capacities. Since retirement he attended John Hagee's church when in Texas, and Calvary Assembly of God when in Elkhart. Myrl was an inspiration to all who had the honor of knowing him. He will be deeply missed by family and friends. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 8, 2014, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen and one hour prior to the 11 a.m. Friday, May 9, 2014, funeral service at Calvary Assembly of God, 1010 E. Mishawaka Rd., Elkhart. Burial will follow at Prairie Street Cemetery, Elkhart. Memorials may be given to Gospel Echoes Prison Ministry or the Angel Garden at Hubbard Hill.
