Muriel K. Yoder, 86, of Goshen, died Sunday evening, April 25, 2010, at Greencroft Healthcare after a long illness. She was born in South Bend on January 23, 1924, to the late Harry Allen and Carrie (Byers) Kring. She married Milo J. Yoder in South Bend on August 15, 1943. He died February 14, 1994. Mrs. Yoder moved to Goshen in 1959 from Middlebury. She was former part owner and vice president of Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. She was a licensed funeral director and secretary at the funeral home before retiring in 1986. A 1942 graduate of Greene Township, she was a member of Goshen City Church of the Brethren, the Bay View Book Club, the National Funeral Directors Association, the Indiana Funeral Directors Association, the Business and Professional Women’s Organization of Goshen and served on the Auditing Committee for the Farm Bureau Credit Union. She was an active volunteer for Heifer International and Goshen General Hospital. She is survived by three daughters, Nancy (Myron B.) Hoke, Alamogordo, New Mexico, Patricia (Roger) Naftzger, El Paso, Texas, and Sharon S. (Robert) VanDeWater, Salida, Colorado; four grandchildren, Caitlin Skidmore, Prosper, Texas, Kyle VanDeWater, W. Lafayette, Indiana, Rodger Hoke, Oswego, Illinois, and Larisa Hoke, Alamogordo, New Mexico; and a brother, Dr. G. Grant Kring, Roseville, California. She was preceded in death by three brothers, H. Burr, John C. and Victor D. Kring. Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m., Friday, April 30, and one hour prior to the 10:00 a.m., service on Saturday, May 1, 2010, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, with Roger Naftzger, son-in-law, officiating. Burial will be in Violett Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be made to Heifer International or Greencroft Foundation.
