Monte J. Fuhrman, 72, of New Paris, died Friday evening, December 19, 2008, at Goshen General Hospital. He had been in failing health for the past two years. He was born in Saginaw, Michigan, on February 7, 1936, to David and Florence (Adams) Fuhrman. He married Dorothea Magoon on October 2, 1992. She survives. Mr. Fuhrman moved to New Paris 20 years ago, coming from Michigan. He drove truck for Veada Industries and did etching at Smoker Craft. He was a member of the Belding Moose Lodge. He enjoyed music and played bass and guitar in bands. He also was a stock car race driver. He is survived by his wife, Dorothea; two sons, Monte James Fuhrman, Jr. and Ronald (Vanessa) Fuhrman, both of Belding, Michigan; a daughter, Dolores Fuhrman of Greenville, Michigan; a step-son, Kevin Baldridge of Cedar Springs, Michigan; five grandchildren; a brother, Rex Fuhrman of Sheridan, Michigan; and two sisters, Dolores Campbell of Arizona and Patricia Jeffery of Sheridan, Michigan. He was preceded in death by a step-daughter, Beth Baldridge. There will be no visitation or services. Following cremation burial will be in Algoma Township Cemetery in Rockford, Michigan.
